Restore our River
To reduce nutrients in the Sanibel River Slough, SCCF Marine Lab scientists plant sods of submerged tape grass on SCCF conservation wetlands. Decades of fertilizer application, sewer reclaimed water, and atmospheric pollution have led to high nutrient concentrations in the slough. The submerged grasses create habitat and move dissolved nutrients from the water to the plants.
